NIN simply means National Identification Number. It consists of 11 non- intelligible numbers randomly chosen and assigned to an individual after the completion of enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB).
Once a NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given or used by another person – that makes it unique in nature. In the case of the demise of an individual, his/her NIN is retired once a death certificate is presented to the Commission and the individual’s death is established.
The issue of National Identification Number (NIN) as become very important to Jamb in all Universities both Federal/State/Conventional to make sure all Nigerian students/citizens from the grassroots have NIN to fight against corruption/age deduction/age increment/fake forgery konw as avidafict and many more especially new intakes seeking admission to any universities.
Jamb inconjunction with NIN started last year 2019 issuing notice to all jambite to ensure they proceed to the nearest NIMC ofice (National Identity Management Commission.. To limit the amount of time you will spend at the enrolment centre, you can start the first step of the registration yourself online at https://penrol.nimc.gov.ng/ print out the Barcode registration slip and proceed to an enrolment centre to complete the rest of the registration steps.
My advice goes to the new intakes perhaps 2021 NOUN Freshers is to make sure they enroll for the NIN, apart for NIN been use for JAMB, it is also a means of identification as a Nigerian Citizens, it can also be use abroad for proper documentation.
